Girl Scout Museums
The Girl Scout Museum – GSSFBA Office in Oakland, CA
Visit the museum anytime during council office hours! Take a self-guided tour of the museum or call ahead and arrange a guided visit. As part of a guided visit, you can also request a free tour of the council office – just call the Marketing and Communication Department (800) 447-4475 x160 and let us know when you would like to visit.
The museum houses uniforms, pins, badges and memorabilia documenting local and national Girl Scout history. It also houses a scale replica of the home of founder Juliette Gordon Low. The 24-square-foot, nine-bedroom dollhouse features working electric lights, parlors, trunk rooms, and working doors and windows. It replicates the English Regency style of architecture fashionable at the time of its construction (1818-1821), and the interior reflects the renovation that occurred in 1886 when Juliette Low was growing up.
What's New At The Museum?

Did you know that Girl Scouts in the USA are not the only ones to sell cookies? Girl Guides in New Zealand and Canda also sell them but cookies are called biscuits.
Our exhibit has an international theme in celebration of our membership in the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). You can see badges and sashes from Korea, Japan, and Canada. You will also find uniforms from Poland, France, Peru, Thailand, Kenya, Guatemala and the Philippines. The Four World Centres are featured in a wall case as is our slogan, Be Prepared.
You can also find out about British Brownie sixes!
The Museum At Camp Bothin
The second Girl Scout Museum is located at Camp Bothin just outside of Fairfax, CA. Troop tours are provided by members of the Heritage Committee, a group of volunteers dedicated to preserving the history of Girl Scouting and sharing it with today’s Girl Scouts. An excellent collection of Girl Scout memorabilia, photographs, historic uniforms and artifacts is housed in this museum.
Who Maintains The Museums?
The Heritage Committee of the Girl Scouts of San Francisco Bay Area is responsible for creating the wonderful exhibits at both museums. It also maintains a collection of uniforms and equipment that is available for public displays. The committee is always looking for donations of clothing and Girl Scout memorabilia, particularly from the years 1912 to 1940.
