Juliette's Trunk
Try making a bedroll. See an early Girl Scout recruitment film or video. Discuss early badge requirements and see what it took to become a First Class Girl Scout. You'll find directions and materials for all of these activities, and more, in Juliette's Trunk.
Borrow the trunk from the Heritage Committee volunteer closest to you. You can check the Council Resource Book (pages 53-54) for a complete list of volunteers or contact the Marketing and Communications Department (510) 562-8470 x136 for the name and number of the person to call.
Please Note: Juliette's Trunk and vintage and international uniforms are available only to GSSFBA troops and associations. A $20.00 security deposit is required upon checkout and returned when the trunk is checked in with all its parts. Many activities in Juliette's Trunk satisfy badge and patch requirements. Plan a whole meeting around it!
Historic Uniforms
We have a fine collection of historic Girl Scout uniforms your troop can borrow for parades, fashion shows or other Girl Scout events. Uniforms date from 1930 to the present; some earlier replica uniforms are available. Appropriate accessories are included. There is a $1 service charge to rent each uniform, plus a $20 refundable deposit. The service charge covers cleaning and maintenance of the collection.
Note: Deposits will be forfeited if any pieces are missing, and borrowers will be charged for expensive items!
Reserving Historic Uniforms:
You can check the Council Resource Book (pages 53-54) or contact the Marketing and Communications Department (510) 562-8470 for a complete list of volunteers who maintain uniforms. Plan to pick up the uniforms in advance so you have time to try them on your models. Impress upon your girls that historic uniforms are to be worn with pride and handled with care. Many cannot be replaced. Please see that the accessories stay with the uniform. No alterations of the uniforms are permitted. Your deposit is refunded if the uniforms are returned clean and in good condition with all the accessories. You will be charged for missing pieces. These collections have been hard to build and we hope to enjoy them for many years.
International Girl Guide Uniforms
We also have collections of Girl Guide uniforms for many member countries in the World Association. These are available for loan on the same terms as the Historic Uniforms. Demand is very high in February for Thinking Day so reserve early!
