Girls On The Run/Five A Day

Girl Scouting is providing a means for girls to participate in sports and fitness activities. Girls On the Run and Girl Scouts are collaborating to provide a twelve week “running” program that emphasizes physical training and health education for girls in 3-8th grades. Go Girl Go focuses on self esteem, keeping fit, keeping stress free, and the effects of substance abuse on the body. The Five A Day project trained and provided curriculum for our Outreach Leaders to teach girls about nutrition and healthy eating.

Blossoms and Daisies: Literacy Program

It’s never too early to emphasize the importance of reading and writing. Most children 4-5 years old are excited about learning to read. The Girl Scouts want to make the most of this enthusiasm by providing Girl Scout programs: Blossoms and Daisies; Read to Lead; and Follow the Reader. These programs reinforce literacy skills through fun, creative, and interactive sessions for pre-K and Kindergarten girls.
