REGISTRATION CLOSES JUNE 30th 2008

Join the Girl Scouts and the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association at the Festival of Sail on the San Francisco Waterfront. Climb aboard ships that every Master and Commander would love. Come on deck to see the world as pirates may have seen it. Explore how the sea is part of California life and how it can be part of yours, too!

Come to Pirate School!

Every girl registered will be able to attend the phenomenal pirate school in Justin Herman Plaza.

Volunteer at Pirate School

In addition, the Pirates would love to have girls 12 and older (w/adult) volunteer with them in 4-hour shifts at the pirate school. Volunteers will help attendees become pirates! If you would like to volunteer send an email, no more than 5 sentences, to Kymberly Miller (kmiller@girlscoutsnorcal.org) by June 1st about what makes you a good pirate’s mate! Selections will be made by June 15th!

International Themed Villiages

This international event will include 3 themed villages: Marine Educational Village at the Hyde St. Pier, the International Sale Village at the Ferry Building, and Green Village from Pier 30-40. Board any of the 16 tall ships docked at each village and explore every nook and cranny. Learn from pirates, captains, cabin boys and cooks; see how people lived and worked and traveled across the oceans not so long ago. Then explore the abundance of family activities including cultural and musical entertainment, and educational programs.

To see pictures of the ships under sail, and to read more about the event, visit the Festival of Sail website, www.festivalofsail.org.
