Jewel of a Woman

The Girl Scouts of Northern California’s Jewel of a Woman event honors women selected for service in their communities and for being excellent role-models for girls. The evening will include a reception, gourmet dinner, silent auction, and a program honoring our “Jewels.”
We are pleased to announce that Debbie Meekins, EVP, Retail Banking Director for Sterling Savings Bank and Sharon Wright, businesswoman and political figure, are the 2008 Jewel of a Woman honorees.
Beyond Cookies & Camping

Women make-up 46% of the work force, but they hold only 24% of technical jobs. In the Girl Scouts, however, a full 100% of girls are encouraged to take an early interest in science, math, technology and engineering. We serve up technology through space camps, career exploration days, and the NASA Aeronautics & Robotics Camp that supports the Girl Scout’s award winning robotics team – Space Cookies (Check out the video from abc7news View from the Bay!) By making these subjects girl-friendly today, we help girls succeed and lead tomorrow.
This year our 6th BEYOND Cookies & Camping dinner and live auction will showcase women in science and technology. We are pleased to announce that Marissa Mayer – Google Vice-President, Search Products & User Experience – will be honored with the Juliette Gordon Low Award in memory of the inspirational woman who founded Girl Scouting over 95 years ago.
