Update on Regional Wildfires
Girl Scouts of Northern California is first and foremost concerned with the safety of girl and adult members. We will continue to provide information regarding regional wildfires that may impact the girls, volunteers, and staff who enjoy our many council properties. Updates will be posted throughout the summer as conditions change.
Update: Thursday, June 26, 2008
With the recent wildfires this summer, we are committed to monitoring the severity and pace of all fires that may impact our Girl Scout Camps. We are in communication with local Fire Departments and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection should we need to take action in alternative or urgent ways.
All camp staff, volunteers and council employees in outdoor program are trained in emergency procedures. Each camp has a written crisis plan as well as emergency drills for each session.
The status of each wildfire changes rapidly, and we encourage you to return to this site which will be updated as conditions dictate.
For additional information, please feel free to contact Sari Van Otegham, Senior Director of Outdoor Program, svanotegham@girlscoutsnorcal.org or (408) 287-4170, ext. 257.
